Vertical Bandsaw Guarding System

Machine-specific safeguarding for vertical bandsaws, engineered to the needed performance level

Contact for Pricing

PowerSafe can engineer guarding to a specific vertical bandsaw machine so hazards are eliminated or controlled while normal production access, chip tray servicing, and blade changes continue without interruption.

Because the safeguarding method is selected from the machine’s risk assessment and how it is actually operated, no two systems are identical.  Fixed barriers, interlocked access, and presence-sensing safeguarding are used alone or in combination.

Key Features

  • Safeguards blade contact, wheel housing entanglement, and feed-path pinch points across the operator, side, and rear approaches
  • Safeguarding method selected from the machine’s risk assessment - fixed, interlocked, presence-sensing, or a combination
  • Point-of-operation access maintained at production throughput
  • Blade changes, blade guide adjustment, and tension checks performed without interrupting hydraulic functionality
  • Cycle start and emergency stop relocated or duplicated outside the safeguarded area when machine controls sit inside it
  • Engineered to the existing machine, no modification to the frame, drive, or cutting capability
  • Installed and validated on site, with documentation supplied for your safety file

Safeguarding Approach

Safeguarding is specified from the machine’s risk assessment, the frequency of operator approach, and the required stopping distance. PowerSafe can include:

  • Fixed barrier guarding where access is not required during production
  • Interlocked access points where routine entry is required
  • Presence-sensing safeguarding at the point of operation where open access must be maintained for loading or manipulation
  • Complementary control measures where a physical barrier alone cannot address the hazard
