How would creating best practice standards enhance safety in the workplace?

ANSI standards are created to help safeguard against minimum OSHA requirements. However, this takes into account more training and administrative controls or tasks than the current environment allows.  Assumptions are made people won't crawl, reach, jump, while reading signs. Going above and beyond with machine safety to overcome these minimum requirements that leave gaps for accidents takes you to a best practice scenario.  It may seem overkill, but engineered solutions minimize exposures to hazards by not letting the workers decide right from wrong.
