Request to Enter Safety Switch Systems

What are request to enter safety switch systems?

Request to Enter is a stop command used to prevent an operator from entering a work cell before the machine has completely stopped. A safety switch without a locking device on a machine that doesn't stop instantly still presents a hazard. Typically a machine guarding door is equipped with a safety switch using a locking solenoid. A request to enter button is installed into the circuit. When the button is pressed, it sends a signal to the machine letting it know to finish a "defined" operation and then stop the machine. Once this has been executed, then the machine will send a signal to the locking solenoid and unlock the safety switch.Another advantage of the request to enter stop command is to allow the machining operation of a part to be completed to prevent scrap. The most important benefit a request to enter stop command offers is protecting your workers from injury and/or death.
